Sister Stamps Anniversary Release #15 - Fun with Otsu

Surprise! The last little furbaby of the new Sister Stamps release is not another doggie, but a kawaii kitty, Otsu. The little Otsu stamp comes with two others, a ball of yarn and a wrapped present stamps so you can really get creative! Oooh....I knew I was gonna have fun with this one!
As soon as I saw that ball of yarn stamp...
I knew it was finally time for me to try my very first penny spinner card!
My first several attempts to get my spinner to work were fails...I don't own the right punch and my exacto knife cutting skills are not very "exacto". I was ready to give up when it hit me...why not have the Silhouette cut the track? DUH! Yup, it worked like a charm!
The alphas and shadows for "Thanks" were also cut on the Silhouette (Aargau font). After embossing with Cuttlebug Swiss Dots folder, I adhered them to the front of the card with foam tape and placed Otsu behind the "T" so it would look like she was peeking out from behind it to watch the balls of yarn. Tiny daisies and leaves are from Punch Bunch mini punches.
On the inside, I placed little Otsu and her yarn ball onto the letter "O"...
and just couldn't resist mounting it onto the card with an Action Wobbler...fun!
Added a "punny" kitty sentiment for the final step and it was done.

Sister Stamps Anniversary Release #15 - Happy Birthday Doogie!

Here's Doogie! Welcome back to day 3 of Sister Stamps DT previews of the Anniversary Release. My card today features furbaby number three, adorable little Doogie! When I first saw Doogie, I couldn't help but think of our own little Latte and how she loves to LICK everything and everybody. Then I thought, what better thing is there to lick than a birthday cake?
I immediately thought of my sister in law's very talented Shibi, who stands on her hind legs when no one is looking to gobble up everything within reach on the dining room table. LOL, with that in mind, I decided to draw a cake and table just the right height for Doogie to reach up and take a lick! Used foam tape to put my "scene" together and placed it inside my favorite recessed window type card.
Added a little birthday tag with ribbon to dress it up...
...and a special birthday greeting to my favorite stamp company inside! "Happy Birthday, Sister Stamps!"
In celebration of their 2nd birthday, Sister Stamps is giving away two of each of the stamps in this new release. For your chances to win, leave a comment at the official Sister Stamps blog, and visit Linda at her You Tube Channel: http://www.youtube.com/user/Lfundoo

Sister Stamps Release #15 - Peeking Cappy

Back today with my second project, this time featuring sweet little Cappy from Sister Stamps new Release #15. Cappy stands on her hind legs like a puppy begging for treats, but I thought she'd look really adorable too as a doggie peeking out from just about anything!

I decided to create a little window on the front of my card for Cappy to peek out of to say "hello". I used a pawprint embossing folder from the Sizzix "Build A Bear" set, brayered with some brown ink for the front. Then I had my Silhouette cut out a window and frame just large enough for Cappy's furry little head to peek through. I also cut out and adhered an extra pair of Cappy's little paws to the front of the frame for some fun added dimension.
Then, when the card is opened, on the inside...
...you see the rest of Cappy, on a little bookmark tucked into a pocket! With the kids out of school for summer now, I thought this might be a cute little incentive gift to encourage a trip to the library to get in some summer reading.
Please be sure to head on over to visit the blogs of the rest of the DT for some fresh and creative inspiration using all four of the adorable furbabies in this new Sister Stamps release. And don't forget...you have two chances to win little Cappy simply by leaving a comment at the official Sister Stamps blog, and by visiting Linda at her You Tube Channel: http://www.youtube.com/user/Lfundoo

Sister Stamps Anniversary Release #15: Meet Kiki!

Hello again! Sister Stamps is celebrating their two year birthday anniversary with their Release #15... four of the cutest little furbaby stamps that are sure to steal your hearts! First up is sweet little Kiki...isn't she adorable? Since I'm always making little treat bags for my doggie's pals, I decided to use Kiki to try and make a doghouse goodie box for giving doggie treats!
I used a cutting file from the Cricut Create A Critter cartridge to cut the front and back dog house panels, and simply joined them with an inch wide gusset to make it into a box.
Added a little grass (Martha Stewart edge punch) and a bit of fun personalization on a bone to the front together with little Kiki. I filled my box with yummy chicken jerky (which, by the way, got my doggie Latte suddenly very excited and interested in my project...lol...). but I guess you could fill it with people treats if you preferred, maybe for a doggie themed people party?
The rest of the DT will be sharing their fun projects today and for the next three days, so I hope you'll have a chance to take a peek to see what they've come up with. In addition, you'll have two chances to win each of the stamps in this new release...ONE, by visiting the official Sister Stamps blog and leaving a comment each day, and TWO, by visiting and watching Linda's You Tube channel: http://www.youtube.com/user/Lfundoo

Brooke's One, Ocean Fun!

My cousin's granddaughter turned one last month and celebrated with a fun ocean themed party. This is the card I came up with...always have such fun cutting and piecing together the cute ocean creatures from Cricut's Lifes A Beach cartridge!
Thought this would be a great time to finally try out Ryemilan's pop up Shadowbox card. If you hop on over to her blog, Ryemilan's Ramblings and do a search for "shadowbox" you'll get to see the different ones she's created...each one so darned cute! If you look closely, you'll see that this type of shadowbox card is just a twist on Kim Score's Pop Up Stage card with a window cut out...so clever!
For mine, I chose to use an oval cut out window with my ocean friends and fauna from Cricut Lifes A Beach cartridge. Little mermaid is from Cricut Once Upon A Princess cartridge and birthday cake is from the Cottage Cutz Celebration Cake die. Inside the shadow box I used strips of clear acetate to pop up a few of the fish and the turtle for some added fun dimension and movement.
Had so much fun putting this together! Can't wait to give this one a try again soon...
BTW, have you heard? Sister Stamps is celebrating their 2nd year Birthday Anniversary this week! How time flies! Sure hope you'll have a chance stop in to visit the Sister Stamps blog this week to join in the celebration as Jenny introduces the adorable new stamp images and get yourself entered in random giveaways! Then, if you'll come back here on Thursday, I'll have a project to share featuring stamps from the Anniversary Release...hope to see you then!

"Love-You-A-Latte" Fathers Day Cards

These are the cards my dad and hubby got this year for Fathers Day. What is it about making Fathers Day cards...or any guy type cards for that matter...that gives me such a rash? I started out with all sorts of ideas in my head of what I wanted my card to look like, but when it came time to put them all together, I had the darndest time getting everything to work together. Finally settled on what you see here...
For the base of my card, I decided I wanted to try the Free Standing Pop Up Card with two sliding elements like the one posted recently by my talented and creative blogging pal, Patti of Creations by Patti. The tutorial for this card with one slider can be found at Splitcoast Stampers, and Patti shares the template and instructions for the two slider on her blog. Because of the weight of the background piece on my card, I had to move slits for both sliders slightly off center to assure that the base would remain balanced without tipping. The photo above shows the base of the card with the center supporting piece of the original design, with two additional supporting pieces about an inch away on both sides of it for the sliding background and dog.
The little doggie is a new cutfile I created of our (much loved by dad and hubby) Maltese, Latte. Inspired by the wonderful and whimsical illustrations and art of (c) Kim Niles of KiniArt.com. I tried to draw our little Latte and used MTC to render her into a cutfile.
Flags for the banner were also created in MTC, strung onto embroidery floss and tied to the background card. Subway art was done using the headline function and various fonts in Printshop. Trophy is from a Thin Cuts die and a Martha Stewart edge punch was used for the grass borders.
Here's how the background card folds up and slides into the base together with the doggie to allow the card to fold flat. Interesting to note that neither dad or hubby could figure out how to "open" their cards. Not such a good design choice for a guy card, I guess!
Before I go, I want to share another surprise we received at work from our sweet friend Lorna...a Fathers Day treat! Lorna used the candy bar pull idea and decorated it with a stamped and paper pieced guy in an origami fold aloha shirt...adorable!
Hope everyone is having an enjoyable time today spending time with dad and letting him know how special he is!

Teddy Bear In A Pop Up Box Card

The first time I saw this fun card/box created by Colette on her blog, Digi-re-doo-dah, I knew I'd have to try and make one too. If you browse her blog, you'll be delighted to find that she has several versions of this card...and each one so darned cute! Colette generously shares the tutorial for her adorable card over at the Teddy Bo & Company Blog.
My first try at this was as a birthday card for my "beary special" crafting buddy, Kris. The little teddy bear inside the box is a svg cutfile I purchased from My Scrap Chick called "Fluffy Bear and Bunny", and the roses were cut from an old Quickutz die. Foliage is from a Quickutz (2x2) leaves die and the Martha Stewart branch punch.
For the tags around the sides of the box, I used labels from Cricut Elegant Edges cartridge. Tag inside the box is from a Sizzlit tag die set. Love Colette's fab idea of adding tissue paper to make this really look like a boxed gift!
I think the coolest thing about this card is how it all flattens out for giving!
Had lots of fun putting this together once I got the measurements on this figured out. Colette's tutorial is in metrics, so be sure to have a metric converter handy when you give this a try. I'm working on making a template in inches which I hope to post later. (Right now I'm in the midst of struggling to get Fathers Day cards and projects for the upcoming new Sister Stamps release done in time...so "bear" with me!)
