I have a sweet friend who enjoys going to Disneyland and has gone there more times than anyone I personally know. I thought she might get a kick out of this Disney Friends themed card for her birthday.
I created a cutfile using an image I found online of Micky Mouse using a phone to take a selfie. Then I swapped the image of the phone he was holding with a cutfile of a camera I made a while back. Miss Elizabeth font was used to create the cutting file for the word "Smile!".
Inside, I used Karen Burniston's Photo Collage Pop Up die mechanism to animate framed "photos" of a few favorite Disney Friends. Images found online were sized to fit the polaroid frames and printed onto glossy photo paper.
Miss Elizabeth font was used to create the shadowed "Happy Birthday" sentiment.
I used Karen Burniston's Surprise Cube, Bam Box, and Sliding Box dies again to make my favorite fun way to give a gift card. When the drawer to the sliding box is pulled open, the two rubber band activated cubes pop out of the box and the gift card inside pops up to an upright position. Top of the sliding box was decorated with a glittered Cinderella Castle with Mickey Mouse head cut out, and tiny glittered die cut stars and fireworks. Happy Birthday was cut using a Lawn Fawn border die. Printed "photos" of more Disney Friends were glued onto the cube panels. A glittery fun surprise for any kid at heart!
I recently had the chance to make my very first engagement card and gift card holder set for my sweet niece and her fiance. They were here on vacation last month when her fiance proposed to her on the beach ... so romantic!
Since I had never made an engagement card before, I searched online for ideas and was inspired by the engagement card designed by Crazy Penguin Designs. Loved her idea of the oversized engagement ring with the whoppin' gemstone! I created the cutting file for my ring in Make the Cut Design program by nestling trianglular shapes together to form the gemstone and joining circles to create the ring. The ring was cut from silver foil board and I used silver glitter cardstock for the gem. "Congratulations!" sentiment was computer generated using Moderne font and printed onto pearlescent cardstock. After adding the ring, the front panel was matted onto white glitter cardstock.
On the inside I added a fun sliceform pop up, using the "Wedding Glasses Sliceform Pop Up" svg file which I purchased from the Lori Whitlock Shop.
Used a lot of glitter, metallic and pearlescent cardstocks, and even some Stickles glitter glue to give everything glitz and shine!
I always have such fun making cards with lots of glitter and sparkle! Plus, using Lori Whitlock's premade svg cutfile helped to make this pop up card come together very quick and easy.
Couldn't resist making another matching surprise sliding box pop up gift card holder! Decorated the sliding box with "Congrats" die cut using Karen Burniston "Congrats Word Set", and hearts from Impress Cards and Crafts "String of Hearts" die. The ring is from the Lori Whitlock svg file I used on the inside of the card.
Rubberband activated pop up cubes were assembled using Karen Burniston "Surprise Cube Pop Up" dies. A svg cutfile from My Scrap Chick was used to cut the gift card insert panel, but this time I slid cash in instead of a gift card.
The card I'm sharing today was created for one of my very special friends who owns a beautiful calico cat named Cheerio. I find it's fun to make pet themed cards for friends who own pets.
For this Double Hinged Pop Up style card, I used Marianne Designs "Eline's Kittens" die set to piece together all the little kitty cats inside. The shadowed sentiment peeking through the front window on the right side was created in Make the Cut Design Program using Note and Hello Valentica fonts together with the pawprint image. Cupcake was die cut from MFT's "Cupcake and Sprinkles" die. and blinged with some Stickles glitter glue.
As this top fold card is opened, the two panels you see through the front window pop forward and move to the sides to reveal additional side and center panels inside. Template and video tutorial for this interactive pop up card by Tatyana Zhykova can be seen here.
I used a shimmery cream colored cardstock which was dry embossed with a Tim Holtz's "Courtyard" Texture Fade folder for all the panels. It was fun piecing together kitties with different colors and markings.
And yes, I made another matching Slider Box/Surprise Cube Pop Up gift card holder to go along with the card. I used the same "Eline's Kittens" die set for the kitten on the front of the slider box, but this time did some custom cutting in an attempt to create a likeness to my friend's cat "Cheerio".
I think both "Cheerio" and my girlfriend approved!
Here's a doggie themed card and gift card holder I made for my dear sister in law's birthday this year. Since her Shiba Inu "Sachi" and our Maltese "Polah" are such good pals that enjoy playing together, I wanted to showcase our pups' friendship on her card.
To create the paper pieced Maltese and Shiba Inu dogs for my card, I used dies from Marianne Design Eline's Puppies die set. I had the dogs peek out of an oval shaped frame that was cut using Spellbinders Elliptical Ovals and Nested Ovals dies. Four layers of the frame were cut and glued together for dimension.
Benson font was used to create the shadowed "Happy Birthday" and "Celebrate" sentiments in Make the Cut design program. I used multiple Spellbinders floral dies: "Be Bold Blooms", "Mini Blooms and Sprigs", "Sealed Blooms" and a Karen Burnison die: "Fence Add Ons" for all the flowers and foliage on this card. Then, for some fun sparkle, flat back clear dew drops were glued on to the front of the card.
On the inside, I used the mechanism from Karen Burniston's "Little Twist Panel Pop Up" die set to create a fun floral pop up.
Colorful party hats for the pups were cut using "Party Puppy" die set from Cottage Cutz.
I couldn't resist making another one of those fun pop up gift card holders I enjoy making so much using Karen Burniston's "Slider Box" and "Surprise Cube Pop Up" dies. Definitely making these for everybody, lol!
I made this matching birthday card and gift card holder set for a very dear friend who used to have bunnies as pets when her daughters lived at home. Although I love teddy bears and nearly always use them to decorate my cards, I figured I should change it up once in awhile to keep things interesting.
One other thing that is different about this card and gift card holder set is that I put everything together without the use of my Silhouette cutter at all... now, that's definitely a game changer for me! All the embellishments, and even the pop up mechanism inside were cut using thin metal dies.
All bunnies were cut using "Eline's Collectables Baby Bunny" set, and I used Spellbinders "Be Bold Blooms" and Karen Burniston's "Fence Add On" sets for the flowers. Spellbinders Nestablilities "Open Scallop Edge Circle" together with Circle dies were used to create the lacy circle frame, and Lawn Fawn "Stitched Scalloped Borders" to cut the beaded decorative border. I used Spellbinders "Hexi-Gems Sentiments Set" to hot foil and die cut the fishtail Happy Birthday sentiment.
On the inside, I added a fun pop up bouquet using Karen Burniston's "Little Twist Panel Pop Up" die. This mechanism was originally designed to create cards with a fun accordian folded, four panel pop up inside, but recently talented Karen Burniston design team members Sandy Diller and Nicky Foden have shared how they've used this same mechanism to create amazing pop up flower bouquets. After seeing their cards, I knew I wanted to give it try as well.
Essentially, the only change made to the original mechanism was cutting away all the corners of the panels and loading what was left of the mechanism with blossoms and foilage. Easy peasy, but I loved the result!
Just added a couple more bunnies and a sentiment box and it was done. Can't wait to try more of these type of cards!
I used Karen Burniston's "Slider Box", "Surprise Cube Pop Up", and "Bam Box" dies again to create this fun pop up gift card holder. Also used Karen Burniston "Big Birthday Charms" and Lawn Fawn "Happy Birthday Border" dies to decorate the boxes to match the birthday card.
This is the card and giftcard holder combo I recently put together for my dear friend Kris. Truth be told, I was in a creative slump during this time so I pulled out my Spellbinders Big Blooms dies. Not sure what it is but I've found that something about this floral die set always seems to help stir up the creative juices for me.
I started by creating a cut file for a circular frame with a personalized birthday sentiment welded around the perimeter. Font used was Arial. I cut the frame three times and layered them on top of each other for dimension. Then I added a paper pieced Franklin teddy bear from Marjorie Ann Designs inside the frame and embellished with lots of fun blossoms and leaves that I had die cut using the Big Blooms die set. Clear resin dew drops were randomly added for a little bit of sparkle.
Inside, I used Karen Burniston's Twist Flower Pop Up mechanism to pop up and raise a panel with Franklin teddy bear surrounded by more flowers.
To create this panel, I first glued the teddy bear and flowers together in an arrangement to my satisfaction, scanned this into my computer at true size, then imported it into Make the Cut Design program where I was able to create and cut a black out shadow panel for the teddy and flowers.
Last, I added more flowers to the left corners of the card and the sentiment box and it was done.
I also made a matching gift card holder using Karen Burniston's "Slider box", "Bam Box", and "Surprise Cube Pop Up" dies."Happy Birthday" sentiment was die cut using Lawn Fawn's "Happy Birthday Border" die. When the drawer of the slider box is pulled open, two surprise cubes pop out and the gift card pops up from inside. Still loving this fun way to present gift cards!
Today I'm sharing the card and matching gift card holder I made to send to our daughter for her birthday.
On the front of the card, I decorated the two panels showing through the window with my favorite flowers cut using Spellbinders "Be Bold Blooms" die set and a cute bunny cut and pieced together using dies from Marianne Design Eline's Collectable "Baby Bunny" Set. White pearlized cardstock was used for the panel insets and run through Cuttlebug's "Modern Wallpaper" embossing folder for texture. The sentiment was created using Memo and Hello Valentica fonts in Make the Cut design program.
On the inside, I used a Doubled Hinged Pop Up mechanism to add movement for a fun interactive card. As the card is opened, the two side panels move apart to reveal the panel behind them. Video tutorial and templates for this pop up card by Tatyana Zhykova of Crazy Paper can be found here.
I used my printer to print the sentiment on the inside and cut it with a shadow layer on my Silhouette Cameo.
Other than the two sentiments on this card, all other embellishments were created using the dies I mentioned earlier plus Karen Burniston's "Big Birthday Charms" set for the cake slice and presents.
My new favorite way to give a gift card is to enclose it in a box assembled using Karen Burniston's "Slider Box" dies and decorate it to match the card. Lawn Fawn's "Happy Birthday Border" die was used to cut the words on the front.
I always love a surprise element and I'm finding that it's fun to attach the gift card to a rubber band activated Bam Box and add in a pair of pop up cubes in the slider box for some birthday excitement. Pretty sure nearly everyone on my birthday card list will be getting one soon!
When I learned our granddaughter would be dressing up as "Barbie in her Gingham Dress" for Halloween, I started putting together a few fun PINK goodies so we could send her a Barbie themed Halloween package.
First, the card: I used Make the Cut Design program to convert a coloring page image of Barbie, a spider web and a wtich's hat clip art into cutfiles for the front of my card. I picked up a Dolly font bundle which included cute Barbie clipart and icons from Exordia Designs to use for the sentiments, and cut out embellishments.
On the inside of the card, I installed Karen Burniston's Twist Flower Pop Up mechanism. The movement of this pop up is a little difficult to capture with still photos alone so I have a short video to demonstrate the movement of this fun pop up.
Since this was a slimline format card, I could fit three of the Twist Flower Pop Up mechanisms in the card. The top and bottom panels with the orange flower shapes pop up and twist to the left while the larger center panel twists to the right as the card is opened. I also attached two die cut bats to the center round panel with strips of acetate so they twist and appear to be flying when the card opens. Barbie silhouette and crown svgs came as part of the Dolly font bundle, bats were die cut from Karen Burniston's Haunted Tiny House Add Ons, and black cat and jack-o-lantern were clipart images rendered into cut files.
Since I had not seen the Barbie movie yet, I watched the movie trailer hoping to get ideas and creative inspiration for fun things I could put together that our granddaughter might enjoy. I thought this shoe from the movie and references to "Barbie feet" vs flat feet were hilarious. It got me thinking, "Hey, I think I can make that!"
I used the free svg cut file for paper witch shoes shared by Cindy Louh on her website here. This is the same template I used to make the witch shoes which I posted last week. But since this one was for Barbie, I used pearlescent pink cardstock instead of black, and attempted to duplicate the heart shaped rhinestone shoe clip.
The next fun little thing I made was this Barbie Eyeshadow Compact...
The inspiration for this came from a similar one posted on Instagram and created by Ideas Caprichosas.
The eye shadow compact was made with circles of glitter and pearlescent cardstock to look like the eye shadows with a foil board mirror. I found clipart of a shadow brush and used Make the Cut Design program to convert it into an svg cut file. The completed paper pieced compact was then glued onto a box with side flaps and filled with candy.
The third little surprise was this personalized pop up slider box with a gift card to her favorite store. I used the Dolly font to make a layered cut out of her name for the front of the box. A little hard to see in the photo but lighter pink panels were dry embossed with Sizzix Stars and Swirls embossing folder and trimmed with glitter cardstock and tiny rhinestones for glitz.
I think I had the most fun this Halloween putting together this box of surprises for our granddaughter. Hope you enjoyed your Halloween too!
