Lots of Birdies

I have a board on my Pinterest account called "For The Guys" where I pin and save card ideas for guy cards. Needless to say, I've saved a lot of golf themed cards on that board to help me come up with birthday card ideas for hubby. The card I made this year was the result of two separate card ideas I had saved. The idea of creating a tiered box card came from the Furrow and Feather SVG shop. I picked up their "Golf Cart Card" cutfile for a very nice three layer tiered box card of a golf course and golf cart to use as the base for my card.

Initially, I increased the width and depth of the original card by 0.75 inches and decreased the size of the golf cart so I could add an extra layer of grass inside the box and have enough space to add 5 more holes and flagsticks to the golf course. Next, I cut lots of small birds using an old Memory Box "Resting Birds" die set. Also cut a few flying birds from a silhouette image cutting file.

Then, inspired by a  funny golf card I had saved on my Pinterest board, I glued the birds near every hole and flagstick and even onto the golf cart to create a silly scene.

I added the funny birthday sentiment which explains it all on the back of the card, "Wishing you a year of birdies on every hole!"  I think hubby was a mildly amused, but I thought it was downright funny!
