Pochacco Big Birthday Wishes

Here's another fun Wiper card I put together recently for my dear friend Kris who is a big fan of  Pochacco.

Pulling on the right and left sides of the card makes Pochacco pop out from behind all the presents and birthday cake!

Paper pieced cutting files for Pochacco and his pals were made in Make the Cut design program, and I used my Silhouette to cut nearly everything out of black and white cardstock. Used Copic pens to color everything while still on the mat, adding a little glitter accent to the bows and cake with Stickles. Bo Bunny Double Dot cardstock was used for the inset panels.

I used Momma Elephant's Wiper Surprise die to cut the wiper mechanism and attached Pochacco to it so he could pop out from behind the gifts.

Lastly, added my sentiment to the backside of the card. As you can see, I'm still having fun playing with my Wiper style cards. Lol, I guess it won't be long before everyone on my birthday card list gets one!

Terribly TWO Cute!

Our little granddaughter celebrated her "Terrible Twos" birthday with friends and family when she returned home to Cali. Her momma planned a "Terrible Two Monster" themed party for her, using a set of cute monster digital invitations and images she picked up from Squawk Box Studio on Etsy.

I used Make the Cut Design studio to render the same monster image into a cutting file and paper pieced it together for our granddaughter's birthday card. I adhered the paper pieced monster onto a bracket style label and cut a window with the same shape onto the front of the card. Then I used Karen Burniston's Katherine Label Pop Up die to make this into a simple but fun interactive card.

     

As the card is opened, the panel inside the card pops forward and rises up. The neat thing is that the mechanism that creates all the movement can be placed anywhere along the fold of the card depending on high you want the panel to rise.

Before I go, I wanted to share some of the fun monster decor from the party, all planned and put together by my daughter's super talented and creative friend.

Here's the fun monster pinata filled with toys for the kids and the goodie bags for the guests. Looks like it was a lot of fun!

PAR-fect Fathers Day

It's Fathers Day and hubby is out on the golf course with his buddies doing what he loves best. Here's the golf themed Fathers Day card I presented him with before he left.

I purchased the svg cutting file for the Golf Cart Box Card from the Lori Whitlock Store, thinking it would make a "par-fect" card for hubby. This view from the top shows the struts inside the golf cart which hold the golf bag and sentiment. On the original template for this card, the right and left side panels actually came up to the roof line of the cart like a box. But somehow I felt it looked a little too "closed in" so I ended up cutting away the side panels down to the height of the struts to give it a more open feel typical of a golf cart.

Love all the fun details like the golf bag, clubs and the putting green, which are included in the cutting file.

And here's the card folded flat to be slipped into an envelope. Started working on this card last minute, late last night and so happy to get it done in time. Thank goodness for downloadable svg files from the Lori Whitlock store for fun and easy cards!

A Is For Aloha

I put together a dozen of these Elmo bags and filled them with puffed rice candies to pass out to family at a lunch get together at our home in April while my granddaughter was visiting from Cali.

Just prior to their coming, I was excited to learn that her parents had recently begun allowing her some "screen time" and that she now knew who Elmo was. Elmo has always been a favorite for me, so I had so much fun making these treat bags! Elmo and alphas were cut and paper pieced using Cricut Sesame Street Font cartridge, and hibiscus flowers were cut using Sue Wilson's Tropical Collection- On The Beach dies.

Just so happened that the day our granddaughter and her family arrived here was also her 2nd birthday! We didn't have anything formal planned since we knew she would be celebrating with her friends when she returned home but I couldn't resist baking up a batch of cupcakes and trying my hand at some fun decorating. Happy Birthday, little one!

Graduation Wiper Cards

It's graduation season again and this year was a biggie for us with five graduates amongst our friends and family. I decided I wanted to try making wiper style graduation cards.

Recently I've been using a double z fold card base for my wiper cards, but this time I wanted to change things up a bit by going back to using the original style wiper card base where both the front and back panels are the same height. But instead of having the wiper mechanism popping up on the top edge of the card, I cut a window into the front panel and dropped the wiper mechanism  down to the edge of the window. I adhered a silhouette image of a crowd of graduates to the front of the window and added a silhouette of a single graduate to the wiper mechanism.

Then when the right and left sides of the card are simultaneously pulled, the happy graduate pops up from behind the crowd of graduates in the window. A little difficult to get the full visual effect with still photos, especially since all the silhouettes are black, but it really is pretty cool.

                                     
For the girls, I used a silhouette image of a leaping happy female graduate. I apologize for the poor photo quality due to the glare and reflection caused by the acetate I used for the windows and the silver foil board background. I used metallic or pearlized foil board in the graduate's school colors for the window frames, and an Elizabeth Craft Designs die for the word "Congratulations". Each card was also personalized with the graduate's name cut in a second window on the bottom, framed in silver foil board and backed with glitter cardstock.
I used Mama Elephant's Wiper Surprise die to cut the wiper mechanism and extended the wiper arm so I could position the graduate to pop up somewhere near the center of the window. Always takes some time and patience fiddling with the wiper mechanism to get it positioned just right but the resulting fun interactive card makes it all seem worthwhile. Looks like everyone's getting a wiper style card from me this year!
